22 x 18 oil on canvas
Today, I don’t want to do the laundry, wash the dishes, walk the pugs, advertise my business name, schedule a well woman exam, go to the bank, vacumn my studio, exercise, write an article, pack up a doll to mail, go to the post office, all I want to do is paint, tend to the flowers and listen to the chirpy birds, oh yeah, just like everyday.
My body has decided to torture me by waking from sleep every morning for about two weeks straight right around 3:00 am. Rising at that time would mean only six hours of sleep and that I would be low functioning during the day. Maybe my body knows that is when the rerun of Jay Leno comes on, which can be boring enough to put me back to sleep. At any rate, insomnia does not become me.
I’ve been recording Real Time with Bill Maher (because its on past my bed time), and last weeks guests were particularly interesting to me. Maher has a book coming out this summer called religiousless, I’m looking forward to getting a copy of it, I always find his commentary if nothing else a way to challenge and stimulate my own interest and thinking.
I’m going to try and ween myself off of diet soda, you know why. I figured since green tea is said to be good for the body and I don’t drink it (die hard coffee person, Peets french roast forever rock on) I do however like ICE tea very much, so I’m combining the green leaves with Good Earth original (one of my favorite teas) which means I will not have to add sugar since the Good Earth brand has a spicy cinnamony naturally sweet taste already. Try it, you’ll like it.
Furthermore, I am totally enjoying the recent calm overcast weather here so much that I have already begun to dread the june heat where I have to stay inside the house even more than my introverted self usually does because I melt outside past 80 degrees. And lets just say, 110 that it does reach means I order groceries from groceries.com And me pugs are the same when it comes to hot sun rays. One day we may move back to the Bay area where the weather is close to perfect for me very often.
A couple of recent studies in oil, on canvas, small 8 x 10s
We watched Juno on dvd a few days ago, so adorable. Last week we saw There will be Blood, which was very intense and sad, I liked it
But for repeated viewing and listening to, its been Sweeny Todd, I love it and just close my eyes when it comes to the slashings.
The latest: Gone Fishing, oil on canvas 22 x something
Finally finished a piece. Now to make prints.
After I go do some gardening.
Discovered this morning a blogging award awaiting, which was quite a surprise since I have been neglecting my blog lately, finding that I don’t feel compelled to share any of my more recent mundane events or non events and preferring to fill my well with magazines, movies, gardening and sketches. Even a bit of, dare I say, CLeAning!
The award emanating from Darlene

Arte Y Pico There are 5 rules attached to this and they are :
1. You have to pick 5 blogs that you consider deserve this award for their creativity, design, interesting material, and that also contribute to the blogging community, no matter what language.
2. Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his/her blog to be visited by everyone.
3. Each award winner has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that has given her/him the award itself.
4. The Award winner and the one who has given the prize have to show the link of "Arte Y Pico" blog, so everyone will know the origin of this award.
5. To show these rules.
Made from papier mache and mixed media The Trickster is so named because of its two sidedness.
I fussed over this painting for about two weeks only to ruin it in the final analysis by inadvertantly painting acrylic over oil. When oil painting the rule is fat over lean, now wherever I applied buff titanium in will eventually crack or peel.
Seth Apter: http//www.thealteredpage.blogspot.com has kindly featured a few of my paintings and artworks from several other artists all last week and this week, he calls it "the pulse" a fun way of discovering some very talented artists and their blogs…
