Prickly Caterpillher
Just slight overwhelm today, as I let stuff get behind over the weekend.
Prickly Caterpillher
almost finished oil on canvas
From my Caterpillher series or Hungry girls….the idea for caterpillhers came to me when I thought about anorexic girls who are hungry all the time but don’t eat and or when they do, they eat and eat and eat until they vomit, you know bulimic, I suppose I should create fly inspired girls for that though since flys I believe regurgitate! Anyway, I also thought of termites but then, caterpillars are so much more beautiful then termites! No offense to eating disordered females since I think its half the women in the US and possibly ninety percent in Southern California!

I’m working on a series of Caterpillhers, this is the first one finished.

I wish CBS Sunday morning was on everyday.
I woke up to the sound of the weaver birds who have built a nest up under the palm tree in our backyard. The male bird is gorgeous and the nests are a marvel.
An art bud told me about these
"In Japanese tradition, the figure was given as a gift when someone started on a new path/goal/adventure/etc. When the goal/etc was committed to, you would paint the left eye of the figure. When the goal was achieved, you’d paint the right eye."
Working on paintings and figures, I’m predictable.
I’m delighted that yesterday is over. My energy was so low that all I could do was think about what I wanted to do. So, it was one of those just existing kind of days which is probably okay if that is ones intention.
My hub wants to invite people over for dinner sunday which means today will be filled with cleaning and prepping, not quite what I had in mind.
My easel arrived yesterday, box open and base missing. blegh
while I don’t get many comments here on my blog, mostly I think because its not part of a blogging community, I do, oddly enough, often get emails. Check out Karin Skiba’s website: www.crazieheart.com
I just discovered that melissa (of Erratica Zine) posted pics of the package I made up for her from the Secret Santa swap I hosted last year, she did such a lovely job I thought I would show it here:

I have several large paintings like in the ten foot range from about fifteen years ago and I don’t like them so I have decide to repurpose them (paint over) this is one of them” while its very different sylistically than the story like paintings I am doing currently I still like it.

This pursed lip piece submitted to the paint very easily and was completed with little fuss. I basically tried to find the face within its abstractedness and the results are an odd looking creature.

I saw Who Gets to Call it Art on the Sundance channel last night about the famed curator Henri Geldzhalder, I should have recorded it, loved the footage of art events from the fifties and sixties such an exciting time for artists.

We all need a helping hand from time to time, this little figure embodies that idea:
Hold My Hand
I have errands to get out of the way today and then its time to pack up some work for an exhibit in Miami.
