Passion for painting

Saturday, April 3rd, 2010

I slept reasonably well last night although it has been an entire week of vivid and lucid dreaming. I really should have kept a journal by my bedside, given that some of the very best ideas for paintings occur from the theater of my mind. And, while my subconscious imagination has been active, I have not. I have not picked up a paint brush in about two weeks, that is highly unusual for me but something I know I need to do. Those breaks are important, for refueling, regenerating and filling the well. I’m Feeling bout ready now, which probably means a frenzy of passion painting to the exclusion of almost all else, as is possible, and a studio that will need wading through to get to the readied canvas. After viewing the Ryden time lapse photography yesterday, (thanks NIna!!) I wish I had completed the time lapse photography painting I started a month ago;

Fight Club Girl: Fire Crotch

I got three quarters of the way through and then, overcome by that gnawing sense of wanting to complete the thing I forgot to turn the camera on and left the last part incomplete, which was a very intuitive part that I could not explain with words. But, there is plenty of time to give it a go again with this next effort.

Its wonderfully crisp and cool this morning and will be in the 70s today. I’m off to get my mane cut, colored and blow dried. Looking forward to feeling silky straight instead of the usual clump of massive frizzy curls. The Hub dosn’t care for the straight hair on me but I have to say I love love the way it feels. Curly hair does not move, and that swish against my shoulders is a welcome change for a couple of days. Its something I can not do during the winter because the moisture will cinch those curls right back into place.

Then, putting the top down on the car, (fingers crossed its not a heavy smog day) and making my way to La Luz de Jesus to retrieve my painting from the kitsch n Sync show. There is a great little art book store within that also has many varieties of vinyl toys and fun gimmicky, artsy stuff. A money sucker if you will, like a vacumn, it will suck the money right out of my purse as I discover this and that thing or book I MUST have :b Its a good thing I don’t get out there much! But then, due to taxes and and logistical issues I will not be able to make it to the Tim Burton exhibit in NYC, 🙁 so I think I will feel fine treating myself a bit, just a bit, a lot. 😀
